Detailed description of Turning Stone Casino Resort, Atunyote

Turning Stone Resort is the ultimate Casino-Resort setting featuring luxurious accommodations, including two AAA four diamond award-winning hotels, fine dining and star-studded entertainment. Turning Stone Resort is also a 72-hole golf facility. The facility has three 18-hole championship golf courses, The Atunyote Course, The Kaluhyat Course, and The Shenendoah Course. Also available is the regulation length, par-36, 9-hole Pleasant Knolls Course and nine-hole, par three Sandstone Hollow Course.

Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone is the longest of Turning Stone's three championship courses at 7,482 yards, this Tom Fazio design is home to the PGA TOUR's Turning Stone Resort Championship, with a purse of $6 million. The Turning Stone Resort Championship is the only PGA TOUR event held on Native American soil. Atunyote's vast parkland setting features vast stretches of open space, gently rolling hills, a stream and small waterfalls, and several lakes. The largest body of water, measuring 13 acres, runs along three fairways, including the dramatic finishing hole.

If you can handle the 200 buck price tag, this course is that special treat you need to give to yourself. The overall course conditions (greens, fairways, bunkers and yes, even the rough) are simply superb. Several touring pros have commented that the only course better conditioned is Augusta National; 'nuf said! Pace of play? When you're playing on a Friday and the nearest groups ahead of and behind you are 4 or 5 holes away, that's golf nirvana. I do think TS's other courses, Shenandoah and Kaluyhat are more interesting layouts, but Atunyote's overall conditioning and pace of play are second to none. This course is better than ANY private or public access club in Central New York.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Best course in the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
